Here you can view the transcribed version of the journal I kept while I was in Europe. I have created the electronic copy in two formats: Adobe Acrobat (PDF), and plain HTML. The PDF format is much preferred because it is physically smaller so there's less to download, and it retains my formatting. The HTML version's formatting is all out of whack, and I don't have the time to fix it. You can view the journal by clicking on the links below.
Web Standard HTML Version - This version is approximately 1 MegaByte in size, and may look different from browser to browser. In many cases, text and graphics will not look as designed, but the content is the same. If you want to read the journal and don't want to fire up Acrobat Reader, this is the version for you.
Adobe Acrobat PDF Version - This version is approximately 3 MegaBytes in size, and contains all the proper formatting. This version looks exactly as I designed it. The choice is yours.
You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader, required for viewing the PDF version, here.
I had the great fortune of taking tons of pictures over the course of the trip. In fact, Justin and I took a combined total of approximately 600 pictures. Luckily we had digital cameras, because that is about 25 rolls of film! I was able to filter out about 50 that were worth printing, including a set of five 8x10s I now have hanging above the TV. For those who merely want to take a peek at the pictures I have taken, I have created a separate gallery containing just these choice shots. The other gallery contains every picture that either wasn't blurry, or wasn't a duplicate. Enjoy!
The Photo Gallery - This takes you to the root photography directory. Here you will find all of the photographs I have taken and posted to my web site.
The Best of Europe 2005 Photo Gallery - This takes you to the photos I have selected as the trip's best.
The Europe 2005 Photo Gallery - This takes you to all 182 posted pictures of the trip.
I had hoped to be able to update a running log of our journey as we traveled through Europe. Unfortunately, this turned out to be more difficult than I had imagined. Computers that we had access to were universally ancient, and unable to support some of the advanced (for 3 years ago, anyway) technologies employed by the blog. Since that was the case, I had to pretty much abandon the site and rely on the above posted paper journal I kept. If you like, you can view the original site as long as it remains online. Since it resides on my actual desktop computer and not this 24/7 hosted machine, that may not be long.
Update: Upon moving to a new computer, the WebLog has been taken offline. There wasn't much there to begin with, so I doubt it will be missed.
